Going “Wayback” – viewing old versions of websites

Ever wondered what a website used to look like or maybe want to get an idea for how far a site has come?

Check out the “Wayback Machine” of the Internet Archive.

The site keeps copies of pages (though usually only the code- images don’t always show) and organizes them by year and month. They even flag them with “*” when a significant change is noted.

As I have worked with many of the same clients for the past 10 years it is always fun to go back and review these lisitings. Kind of like fglipping through your old high-school yearbook.

Here are a few example listings –

Try it with your own site and see how far you’ve come!

If it looks like it may be time for an update, give us a call (985 -792-0991) and ask about our new web packages – designed to fit your brand and your budget.

The difference between barber and beauty school explained

Our friends at Aveda Institutes Florida have recently launched a beauty school blog where they let guests, current students and potential students know what is going on at their cosmetology schools in Florida.

In addition to special offers and school announcements, they have also started a new section for potential beauty school students where they answer questions about cosmetology.

The first question is one I’ve always been curious about: just what is the difference between beauty school and barber school.

So check them out and if there are any other cosmetology or beauty school related questions, let them know and maybe they’ll answer it in their next post.

Yummm. Tasty Pizza at Nonna Mia Italian Cafe in New Orleans!

The whole Imaginal crew took a break from the grind and had a great dinner at our new favorite New Orleans pizza and Italian restaurant, (and full disclosure- IM client) Nonna Mia!

(we love our salon and spa customers who keep us looking great, but sometimes it is nice to have a client who can feed your stomach in addition to your creativity)

After being spoiled by the great pizza at Home Slice in a recent trip to Austin, I’ve passed on pizza until Nonna Mia and was so glad I did. And I am constantly on the lookout for places that offer pizza by the slice which Nonna Mia does. I just wish I actually lived in New Orleans so I could eat there more often. (Unfortunately, I don’t think their upcoming delivery service will extend to the North Shore).

The spaghetti and meatballs were great (meatballs were huge!) and the ravioli was great too boot (a special of the day, not on the menu but they will give you daily special updates if you hit them up on Facebook).

By the way, we did all of their collateral and their website.

Nonna Mia Italian Cafe and Pizza – New Orleans

and if this sounds really tasty and you are in Atlanta or Washington DC, you’re in luck because they are coming to you next.

Network Solutions DNS corrupt?

One of our clients just called and their domain which is registered at Network Solutions is defaulting to a Network Solutions “under construction” page. Which was odd, because the domain is not up for renewal for another 5 years. A quick search of some blogs found some info that sounds pretty on target.

Thanks to Mark Briggs of and his post at The News Tribune.

Hopefully this is the issue and it will be resolved quickly. Fingers-crossed.

In the middle of the afternoon today (Tuesday) a technician at Network
Solutions corrupted the DNS NS records for wunderground.com. As a
result, all name lookups to wunderground.com point to a server that knows nothing about wunderground.com, thus resulting in the Network Solutions marketing page. They understand that they caused the problem and have engineers trying to work around the issue.

ADDY Awards – 7 silver, ??? Gold?

We found out that of the pieces we submitted for the ADDY Awards for New Orleans, 7 have won Silver, but they are pretty tight-lipped about what has won Gold so we are still keeping our fingers crossed.

We won 9 total last year, so we are hoping to match that or better this year, which should be possible. There are some strong contenders that we submitted that we haven’t found out about yet so we will have to wait until 2 weeks from now on March 28 at the Awards dinner.

Once we know, we will be sharing the great news with all of our customers so stay tuned.
